Sprouted green moong and black chana salad

Every day as soon as the clock strikes 4 (pm), the rat in Baby S’ tummy starts running up and down, and Daddy S also starts singing in the same tune. It's snack time for their small hunger prangs; both are picky eaters, and today nothing was coming to mind as to what to prepare that would be tasty, healthy, as well as easy.

I was casually looking inside the fridge to check what all I have, and to my utmost pleasure, I found some black chana and green moong sprouts; they made my day. I quickly chopped some onions, cucumber, tomatoes, and fresh coriander leaves. Steamed both types of sprouts and mixed them with the chopped veggies, squeezed half a lemon, sprinkled some rock salt and chat masala, gave it a real nice mix again, then sprinkled the freshly chopped coriander leaves.

Our healthy, tasty, and easy sprouts salad is ready for a quick 4 o’clock snack.

Here is how to prepare the sprouts salad

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup of sprouted green moong, steamed
  • ½ cup of sprouted black chana, steamed
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ¾ cup chopped cucumber
  • ¾ cup chopped tomato
  • ¼ cup freshly chopped coriander leaves
  • ½ tbsp finely chopped green chilies (optional), I completely omitted it for Baby S, you can add as per your taste
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • ½ tsp chat masala
  • ½ tsp rock salt
  • Salt as per taste

 Method:
  • Wash and soak black chana dal and green moong dal separately overnight or more till the sprouts come out
  • Steam both black chana and green moong sprouts till they are a little tender, you can use the sprouts directly also without steaming them
  • Mix all the veggies with the steamed sprouts
  • Add rock salt and normal salt as per taste
  • Squeeze the juice of half a lemon and mix well
  • Sprinkle the chat masala
  • Finally, garnish with the freshly chopped coriander leaves

Serve it immediately as it is already past 4 o’clock ðŸ˜ŠðŸ˜Š
